How Tender Relief Became One of WA’s Top Startups

The COVID-19 pandemic has caused a giant swell of entrepreneurial activity. Many people have been laid off or furloughed, to begin with. They had to get creative to make ends meet with bills to pay and mouths to feed. What could be more creative than starting your own business?

Additionally, staying home has given people plenty of time to pursue long-held dreams and interests. With fewer places to go and people to see, now is the perfect time to start that business you’ve always dreamed of or to learn that new skill you’ve been wanting to learn.

That’s what happened with Eliza Carbines, the founding director of Tender Relief. His company is one of the most promising startups to emerge from the pandemic. Tender Relief is a company that focuses on providing assistance, workshops, tender response model and trainings to clients who wish to bid for government tenders and contracts across the region.

How did this Karratha-based company become one of Western Australia’s top startups? In January 2019, Tender Relief started as a tender support consultancy, providing training, management services and support to Australian regional businesses.

It almost started by accident because many companies kept asking Eliza to help them with their tenders, and she would. At first, she did all the work alone.

However, soon after, she realized there was a real opportunity to make Tender Relief something much bigger. So Eliza hired people to help with the business.

Imagine doing it all alone now having a staff. Additionally, Tender Relief became a registered business entity in Australia in less than twelve months. Founding Director Eliza shared, “After registering the business, I quickly realized that many businesses could be helped if we increased services.”

Eliza began exploring the idea of creating a business model that offers more than just bidding support. Tender Relief would become an online one-stop-shop for businesses, with services including training, management and marketing.

But to be able to turn this idea into reality, Eliza knew she had to secure investment. So in 2020, she joined the LaunchPad Program, an accelerator program that helps startups get started.

The program was created to find and teach regional businesses in Australia how to pitch their business. Eliza added, “The Meshpoints LaunchPad program in Karratha was awesome,” where Tender Relief won.

This win gave Eliza the confidence to pursue her business goals. In the same year, Eliza began to participate in the Golden Ticket Pitch, where she got a place in the Plus Eight Bootcamp.

Eliza shared, “The Plus Eight Bootcamp was a fantastic experience. I learned a lot about how to structure and run my business. Even better, she was able to secure a spot in the 2021 Plus Eight Acceleration Program.

The next big thing for Tender Relief just happened recently, when they landed $100,000 in funding through the RED Grant Initiative. Eliza added: “This was all possible thanks to my participation in the Plus Eight program.”

The technology company was able to express the credibility and validation of its business to the grant panel, which assured it of the funds. The Plus Eight community has brought immense opportunity, experience and exposure to Tender Relief.

With this, Tender Relief is undoubtedly one of the best startups in Australia. The company’s story to the top is not one of luck, but one of hard work, dedication and resilience in the face of challenges.

We can all learn from Eliza Carbines and her company Tender Relief. Anything is possible when you put your mind to it and surround yourself with the right community.

The journey of the business has been incredible, and it all started with Eliza’s determination to succeed. So if you feel inspired by the story of Tender Relief and are considering starting your own business, remember that you too can make your dreams come true.

All you need is a little creativity, hard work and resilience. Who knows? You could be the next big thing to come out of the pandemic.

Overall, Tender Relief’s mission is to help businesses in regional Australia succeed in the tendering process. The company provides training, support and management to help companies win government contracts.

Asked about the future of Tender Relief, Eliza said: “We want to be able to help as many businesses as possible.
